I have now added the functionality to allow you to view larger photos of the layout by clicking on the thumbnails - give it a try.

The panic is on...my layout needs to be ready for our club's show in just over 3 weeks time! I have finally received all the building kits I need, and am finishing off the scenery. A fellow club member has helped me out by building my tugboat kit, and I must say I am very impressed with the result - but then, he used to be a professional modelmaker...more updates & photos of the layout in the next few days...

Last week I finished my first DCC sound install. I installed a Soundtraxx DSD-AT100LC sound decoder into an Atlas RS-3 locomotive. I had to cut part of the weight away, but finally got it installed. You can see and here it by downloading the following movie clips (be aware they are large files): Windows Media (3.81mb) or Realplayer (2.21mb)

Work has started again on the Paliz Bay Railway. I am re-doing the backdrop, as it was too high...the reason for the change is that the Paliz Bay Railway will be making its exhibition debut in November, and as such I need to be able to see over the backdrop to operate it. The blue colour was also too dark, so I have repainted it a lighter colour. I have also purchased perspex to put along the sides and front of the layout to protect it. Photos to follow soon.

My website has been awarded a Bronze Award from the Smokin' Awards - not an easy award to get as the judging is very stringent

At last, work has started on the scenery...I've been too busy lately to do any work on the layout, but this weekend I found some time to do some work. The result can be seen on my layout page. I'll be adding more scenery this week, so keep an eye on this site for more updates.

Work is progressing steadily on the Paliz Bay layout. I am busy installing my roads and will be painting & detailing them soon. Photos to follow.

I have just installed two more Tortoise switch machines, and am in the process of installing my DAC10 accessory decoder, to which the Tortoises are connected. I can now control them using my throttle, and soon, using a local control panel.

I have had a brilliant idea regarding my harbour, but will let you know about that early next year once I have all the details worked out.

I've just purchased a DAC10 8 output accessory decoder from CML Electronics here in the UK -- www.cmlelectronics.co.uk/products/dac10.htm. This is the equivalent of the Digitrax DS54 accessory decoder, but with 4 extra outputs, so I can now control 8 Tortoise switch machines via DCC...I am busy installing two more Tortoise switch machines, and will then be connecting and programming the DAC10

I've added a new DCC section under 'Connections', with links to DCC suppliers, traders and software.
