The Paliz Bay Railway & Navigation Co. is my Freelance HO Scale Model Railroad.

Paliz Bay is a fictional town just outside Santa Cruz, California. The line is loosely based on a branch line of the Southern Pacific Coast Line going through Santa Cruz, and is set in August 1966.

The reason I chose the year 1966 is largely due to the influence of my wife... she is a huge Beatles fan, and I just happened to be paging through a new book we had bought (yes, she's converted me as well !!) when I noticed that the last public concert the Beatles played was on 29th August 1966 in San Francisco. Well, it suddenly dawned on me that Santa Cruz is close by, which of course in turn led to me finding the excuse to include the Beatles into my layout - among other things I could have billboards advertising the Beatles concert in nearby San Francisco ... and of course the quickest way for people to get there would have been by railroad as the roads would have been far too congested ... oh yes, and the other reason for choosing this year is beacuse Diesel locomotives were very prevalent on the railroads at this time too ... sound like a good enough reason to choose this year? ; )

I am still working on all the details, such as History and Industries, but in time the History of the Railroad will become known. Keep an eye out on this page for new developments
